With the movie coming out today, I figured it’s about time I mentioned my friend Daniel. Daniel is a pretty ordinary cool guy. Comes off as this confident jock with a passion for fast cars and with his sharp good looks you automatically begin to envy him as he talks about his weekend driving over 200 miles per hour down a public road with his bitchin’ hot asian girlfriend in the front seat. "He seems like a pretty cool guy." I first though.
That’s until I found out he has the biggest Transformers collection in Montreal, and knows more about Transformers than anyone in the greater Easter Canadian Area. (ref) I mean look at his room. Hundreds and hundreds of Transformer toys scale his wall, bed, ceiling, closet, and house. The guy literally lives and breaths the obsession. The guy even walks around with a scaled plastic Transformers Matrix around his neck. It’s just staggering. It even out shines my obsession with Metal Gear! (And that’s saying a lot: ref) And with this month being TF month, it seems like he’s finally going to have his 15 min.
Not that he hasn’t had them several times all ready. Recently at TransformersCon 2007 in Toronto they has this huge Trivia Championship and he just mopped the floor with the compitition. Is that something to brag about? I don’t know but it’s clear that with it comes to Transformers, Daniel is the Transformers Guy.

You know what I loved about going to Toronto and my girlfriend said it the best: "It’s amazing, we went to another city to gather with all the biggest geeks and losers of the transformers fandom and they had all the time in the world to master this…. and you just walked in and destroyed them all"

You know what I think is amazing about that. See all the others, are lonely lots. They spend all day at home infront of the PC, no girlfriends, no sex, no social lives. For a lot of them that TF convention is there big social outing all year
now me. I race, I have a girlfriend and a busy social life.
But Transformers, I study it like education
I know everything
and then I walk in, pitted against the most obscure, most smelly people ever.
Them, with all the time in the world to memorize the episode "Heavy Metal Wars" and so on and yet……. they knew nothing compared to me
I have always been the stark contrast to the everyday typical "comic book nerd"

How do you feel with the release of this movie about the fame you might obtain being one of the original hard core TF nerds.
Daniel
Well I see it much how when X-men or Spiderman became a main stream movie. All of a sudden everyone knew the characters, and even on a deeper level. Not only did people now know Spiderman, but who Uncle Ben was or Mary Jane. With Transformers, now you will have even women (a rare % of the population who know who Optimus Prime is) being able to talk about Bumblebee and/or Starscream

Do you hope to cash in on this with you mind staggering toy collection?

Even prior to the movie (specially when Ebay was invented back in 1995) I was always selling/trading transformers. But now with the hype of the movie, my demand for figures have more then filled up my wallet.
Do I plan to cash in? Well yes. But I have always made money from my hobby, just now… it’s more then ever

Do you think you do something dramatic and sell your whole collection like say Nicholes Cage’s comic book collection?

I don’t think I will ever sell my Transformers. Normally when people do that, they always have that "Well think about all the money you can make" mentality. Money has never been a issue for me. I never collected with the intend of the money I can make on resale down the line. I buy a figure, open it up and enjoy it without any worry about reducing it’s value due to "devirginizing" the
packaging.
I always own so much 1 of a kind items, I could never part with those. Like prototypes, original artwork from Hasbro, Animation Cels ect

Honestly, I already feel like a millionaire. Not even Bill Gates can get some of the stuff I own. As a Transformers collector… that makes you feel really good inside. I make good money, my fiance makes good money. A million bucks would be nice, but I would also be out of a collection I worked well over 21 years to amass and be proud of.

My collection is over 1700 unique figures, not to mention all the TF related merchandise I have. Anything ranging from comic books, posters and even birthday cards. I started collecting when I was 3 years old. My next door neighbor along with his mother brought us to see the original movie. It was my first taste of it. I became obsessed and it just snowballed from there.
Even during the 1987-1991 era when Ninja Turtles was hot, I still bought Transformers

My life is really 2 sides of a coin, while both connected, are very different.
During my spare time I participate in motor sports and thus, while meeting women I get this more jock image.
I never mention the fact that I am a Transformers fan and I own more toys then 12 little children combined.

A lot of people, after they meet me tend to think different about the stereotypical comic book nerd.
That you CAN be this "hardcore" and still be normal.

Actually, he does race for a Pro race team called KOF. I knew him for about 5 years working at Nissan garage with him and didn’t know he collected toys at all. When he broke into pro racing he became more open about it. Also his girlfriend is pretty good looking. Also to comment on what that Moot guy said, I dunno, I thought F-ram.net was a canadian board, I guess Spanish people just have more time to hate people :P

Who gives a damn about this TF collection, TF trivia (goor for you), this does not make you good or bad, but we can see that you are a complete IDIOT because of that kind of behavior, and the worse, fact that you are proud of risking peoples lives. estoy aburrio, voy a opinar: hay gente que colecciona basura en su casa, ya sabeis “enfermedad de diogenes” no entiendo porque veis tan raro que coleccione muñecos y creo que eso es peor todavía.Una vez en un programa español en “gente”, o alguno de estos asi, un hombre que coleccionaba relojes, tenia relojes de todos los tamaños y colores,toda la casa llena, me agobié y todo al verlo. No se de que os extrañais. Aquí en España también estamos crazy del tó.

Seriously, all of you guys who log on here just to leave abuse or ask him to kill himself, you’re making yourselves look retarded.
This guy’s perfectly happy in this life and only posted this up to share with you some pictures of transformers and a bit behind the person who collects them, both pretty interesting if you’re at work and bored, like myself.
Leaving comments like you have just makes you all look like you’re 12 emotionally and racked with jealousy.. but i guess that’s the problem with the internet, no way to stop every child jumping up and down having their tantrum.
Well if you’re gonna slag someone off you really should do it constructively, rather than just say “you’re a morron” “you’re a geek” “go fuck yourself” and all that, cos the only people who are gonna agree with you will be the other jealous 12 year olds, or i guess other people with that mentality…

En mi opinion, este chaval es friki, si, pero yo tambien lo soy, y mucho; no hay nada de malo en serlo, a mi me gusta coleccionar comics, y tmbien figuras de personajes (ya sean de comics o de cine), este muchacho es el PUTO AMO por haber consiguido semejante coleccion.
Otra cosa mas, esto es para aquellos que han publicado los comentarios Nºs: 4, 8, 12, 13, 25, 31, 33, 41, 46, 52, 62, 67, 76, 79, 91 y 101. (no se si me dejare alguno) QUE OS JODANNN, no soys mas que una panda de gilipollas, desgraciados de la vida, una piara de calorros retrasados que no saben absolutamente nada de la vida salvo (segun ellos) que es para follar, drogarse, e insultar a la gente que no hace mal a nadie; a vosotros si que os deberian reventar nada mas, en cuanto salgais de vuestras casas.
