While writing the script for Metal Gear: Gaiden there was a lot of research involved. I only played MG:S2, and that gives barely any information on the whole story of Metal Gear. I ended up going to Woolies house and watching him play all of Metal Gear Solid in front me for about six hours. Then I went online and read kids papers that they wrote on the game, and then eventually I knew the core of Metal Gear and was sure I could make a movie that even Hideo Kogima could be proud of.
Naturally, however, during that process I went through several upon several drafts of the script. There was points where Shadow’s name was Talon and Lynx’s name was Fireball. Also when there was suppose to have an army of Metal Gears rampaging Montreal, CA. or, my favourite, when I would do my Snake voice and call Shadow or had a cameo of Snake at the end of the movie.
But all those drafts were only spoken words. Very few of the drafts and script was actually typed. But what was left is here. It is cut up in two parts, the scenes that were actually in the movie and the scenes that never made it. Also, naturally, the ones that made it are not word for word because when your working with teenagers last minute que-cards, voice overs and telling them there lines before pressing record is key.
